About the course
Beginner Spanish for Dairy is designed for English-speaking dairy professionals who work alongside Spanish-speaking colleagues or team members. Whether you’re milking, managing or maintaining herd health, you’ll learn practical Spanish that improves communication, increases workplace safety and builds mutual respect.
Students of all stripes in this industry – veterinarians, herdsmen, farm managers, employees and hoof trimmers – take this course and find it to be a gamechanger!
- Fall Session Dates: September 23 – November 20 (these are the live recorded classes)
- Access to everything until December 30 (also for self-pacing of the class)

Learning objectives
Upon finishing this course, students will be confidently able to:
- Construct simple sentences/phrases in the present tense, verbally and written
- Properly use verbs in the present tense and present progressive tenses
- Pronounce Spanish vowels, consonants, and sounds correctly
- Understand basic vocabulary, sentences, and phrases audibly
- Utilize an extensive library of agriculture-specific vocabulary
- Understand cultural differences impacting Spanish-speaking contexts

Beginner Level
(Recommended for most students)

Intermediate Level

You may be ready for intermediate if you can:
✓ Conjugate regular and irregular verbs

✓ Use present tense confidently
✓ Distinguish between “ser” and “estar”

How it works

Before Class Starts
- Register for class!
- Mark off Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings on your calendar. Actual class times are determined during registration
- Gain access to all supplemental learning resources
- Plan to spend minimum 1 hour per week on homework/vocab practice

During Class | Weeks 1-8
- Attending live is NOT mandatory, but highly encouraged
- SmartBoard and Learning Platform technology to give you the best experience
- All classes are recorded and available on-demand with password-protected access
- Interactive discussions with in-class activities and student participation
- Homework assignments to reinforce learning (it’s not overload, I promise)
- Regardless of which option you choose, you receive consistent, timely support no matter your pace/where you’re at in the course

After Class | Weeks 9-16
- Access all class recordings for up to 6 weeks after the live sessions end
- Catch up on any missed lessons or homework assignments
- One- on -one office hours are also available when needed
This is a non-credit course, but you do get a pretty sweet certificate at the end!
